ARTIST STATEMENT:
Painting and photography enable me to stop time. My art leads the viewer into private spaces. It contemplates the scars that come from existence while exploring precarious balances and tenacity in adversity. My images can celebrate imperfection and dichotomy or preserve fleeting beauty.
My process is a delicate balance of sculpting the paint and allowing unexpected watermarks to invoke mystery.
I find inspiration from my own moments of escape and seek to cultivate deeper human connections with nature and forgotten histories.
BIOGRAPHY:
I grew up playing in the woods, climbing on rocks, splashing in water, and taking lots of art classes. With a degree in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design; a masters specializing in Graphic Design and Communication from Monmouth University; and a career in graphic design, teaching, and marketing, I have returned to my roots.
I play in the woods, climb on rocks, swim, paint, and teach watercolor. I love the water and its surrounding natural landscape. I specialize in capturing nature's seasons in photos and watercolors. I am a member of the Florida Women’s Arts Association, the Florida Watercolor Society, and the West Volusia Art Club. I have also been the Artist in Residence at the Lake Anna State Park and the Chair of the Louisa Arts Center Gallery.
